St. George’s Chapel

#Culture

St George’s Chapel, located within the grounds of Windsor Castle, is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in England and holds deep historical and spiritual significance. Founded in the 14th century by King Edward III, the chapel has long been a place of worship for the British royal family and the spiritual home of the Order of the Garter, the most prestigious order of chivalry in the country. Its stunning stained-glass windows, intricately carved stonework, and beautiful fan-vaulted ceilings reflect centuries of royal patronage and craftsmanship.

The chapel has also been the site of numerous royal weddings, baptisms, and funerals, including the recent wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. A number of monarchs, including King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth II, are interred here, making it a significant royal mausoleum as well as a place of worship.
